Welcome to the Darfield Rugby Club for the 2023 season.

Founded in 1904 the Darfield Rugby Club is one of the oldest clubs in the Ellesmere Region.

The 2023 Season is the first time the club will return to the field as Defending Champs of the Division 1 Coleman Shield after a nail biting 27-26 last play victory in the 2022 Final.

Extensive renovations of the clubrooms were also completed over the 2022 summer with a full kitchen and bar refit, along with complete painting of the interior and minor bathroom alterations. The intentions of these renovations were to create a more user-friendly space for the entire club from Junior and Senior perspectives as well as making things easier for the club’s fantastic volunteers.

The 2023 Season sees 14 teams compete in their respective Ellesmere competitions. 3 Senior Teams - Div. 1, Div. 2 and Colts as well as 11 Junior Teams across 7 age grades from U6 to U12.
The grounds at the Darfield Domain are undoubtably some of the best fields in Canterbury and a real credit to the domain staff and club volunteers who maintain the fields to the high standard they are always in.

We have a warm, friendly, social atmosphere at the club and encourage all age groups to join us to play for, and support, our many teams. So come along and watch some rugby this season, utilise our courtesy van and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere at the Darfield Rugby Club.

The club has a good number of outstanding sponsors this season so on behalf of myself and the entire committee, I would like to thank all those sponsors for assisting us this season. We could not provide our players with the level of assistance and merchandise we currently do without your support.

I would also like to pay a huge thankyou to all the volunteers including all of the coaches, managers and committee members donating their time to help the club run smoothly.
